Network Services Lead

The Opportunity

The Network Infrastructure Services Team Lead is a key leadership role within D&IT and a visible face of technology delivery to the business. This leader will guide the team responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting the ordering and deployment of network infrastructure across corporate offices and project sites, while building trust with business partners through clear communication, disciplined execution, and collaborative problem solving.

The position oversees circuit management, structured cabling coordination, equipment logistics, inventory management, office expansion and relocation initiatives, and the deployment of network infrastructure for Black & Veatch corporate offices and project sites. Success in this role requires a highly accountable, service-minded leader who can anticipate issues, align stakeholders, remove barriers, and represent D&IT with confidence, professionalism, and passion for enabling the business.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team responsible for network infrastructure operations and deployment activities.
• Establish priorities, workload distribution, and performance expectations to ensure service delivery objectives are met.
• Model high accountability by owning outcomes, following through on commitments, and creating a culture of reliability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Build and sustain an engaged, capable team that communicates clearly, partners effectively, and takes pride in delivering practical solutions for the business.

Circuit and Connectivity Management

• Oversee the ordering, provisioning, installation, and management of equipment, Internet, and telecommunications circuits.
• Coordinate with service providers to expedite installations, resolve service issues, and manage escalations.
• Maintain circuit inventories, contracts, and provider relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Office Expansions, Relocations, and Real Estate Projects

• Partner with Real Estate, Facilities, and project stakeholders to support office expansions, relocations, consolidations, and new site deployments.
• Develop infrastructure requirements and project plans to ensure network readiness for business operations.
• Coordinate technology-related activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Low-Voltage Cabling Coordination

• Plan and schedule structured cabling installations and modifications.
• Coordinate with contractors, facilities teams, and vendors to ensure cabling projects are completed on schedule and meet company standards.
• Review designs and ensure compliance with network and facility requirements.

Construction and Project Site Deployments

• Manage network infrastructure deployment activities for construction projects, field offices, and temporary project sites.
• Coordinate equipment staging, shipping, installation, and activation activities.
• Ensure all technology requirements are delivered according to project timelines.

Inventory and Asset Management

• Maintain accurate inventories of network hardware, telecommunications equipment, and deployment materials.
• Establish inventory controls and forecasting processes to support operational and project requirements.
• Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including receiving, storage, deployment, recovery, and disposal.

Procurement and Logistics

• Manage equipment ordering and vendor procurement activities.
• Coordinate the shipping and tracking of infrastructure equipment to global office and project locations.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to optimize purchasing strategies and vendor performance.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for network infrastructure vendors, carriers, contractors, and service providers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate office leaders and key business stakeholders.
• Monitor vendor performance against service-level expectations and contractual commitments.
• Serve as a trusted D&IT representative to business stakeholders by communicating clearly, listening actively, setting realistic expectations, and driving issues to resolution.
• Facilitate collaborative problem solving across D&IT, Real Estate, Facilities, construction teams, vendors, and business partners when priorities, schedules, or delivery obstacles need alignment.

Financial and Operational Management

• Assist with budget planning, forecasting, and cost management for network infrastructure projects and operational activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality, reduce costs, and optimize operational processes.
• Provide regular reporting on project status, inventory levels, vendor performance, and operational metrics.

Management Responsibilities

Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in network infrastructure, telecommunications, IT operations, or related fields.
• 3+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
• Experience managing telecommunications circuits, network deployments, and infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with vendors, service providers, contractors, and cross-functional business teams.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with confidence, influence without relying solely on authority, and represent technology decisions in a practical, business-oriented manner.
• Proven track record of accountability, follow-through, and collaborative problem solving in complex, cross-functional environments.
• Experience supporting corporate office construction, relocations, and facility expansion projects.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Experience with inventory management and asset lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure technologies including WAN, LAN, Internet, SD-WAN, and telecommunications services.
• PMP, ITIL, or relevant infrastructure certifications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Network Manager
