Health Information Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Technician to support the management and organization of patient health records within a healthcare environment. This position is ideal for candidates with strong administrative and medical office experience who enjoy working with documentation, electronic records, and maintaining accurate patient information.

This role requires excellent organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage medical records with accuracy and confidentiality. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) is preferred but training will be provided.

Please Note: This position is administrative in nature. We are seeking candidates with medical office or health information experience rather than direct patient care backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, organize, and maintain medical records for accuracy and completeness.
• Scan and upload documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Prepare, organize, and file patient charts and medical documentation.
• Retrieve medical records while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
• Compile and prepare reports including admissions, discharges, census reports, and other statistical information.
• Verify medical documentation contains all required reports and signatures.
• Coordinate with various departments regarding medical record procedures.
• Maintain filing systems and document organization.
• Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to support daily administrative functions.
• Perform additional health information and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Previous medical office, medical records, or health information experience.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential information professionally.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn new software and systems quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience scanning and indexing medical documentation.
• Experience maintaining electronic or paper medical records.
