Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical / Surgical

The Registered Nurse in a medical/surgical setting practices independently, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of all pertinent aspects of patient care. This role involves providing routine and complex nursing care while focusing on long-term goals and adapting to clinical contingencies. The nurse is responsible for making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of applicable competencies, embodying leadership qualities as a leader of self, others, or leaders.
• Provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses and manages increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for side effects and the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided thoroughly and accurately.
• Assesses learning needs and delivers education to patients, their families, and caregivers, identifying any issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education and Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact license.

Work Schedule

This position requires a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.
