Charge Nurse Part Time, NIGHTS- 5 South Observation

Job Title

The 5 South Observation Unit supports both the Emergency Department and telemetry services by caring for low-acuity patients who require short-term monitoring to determine whether inpatient admission is needed. This fast-moving unit relies on strong teamwork, clear communication, and efficient patient flow.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as the shift supervisor and key member of the unit's leadership team
• Provides clinical guidance and support to staff throughout the shift
• Rounds on patients and families to ensure safety, satisfaction, and high-quality care
• Collaborates closely with the Nurse Manager on operational needs, including scheduling, staff development, and maintaining clinical competence
• Promotes a positive, team-oriented environment and supports smooth unit operations

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

• Active Kentucky RN license
• Minimum of two years acute-care hospital experience
• BCLS and ACLS required
