Responsibilities Lead a team of data‑engineering analysts, setting clear performance expectations and providing coaching and mentorship. Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize program operations and achieve agency goals. Oversee allocation of resources, budgeting, workload distribution, and process improvements. Serve as the data expert on workgroups, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and alignment with reporting requirements. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for executive leadership on policy and legislative impacts. Manage special projects, cross‑functional teams, and initiatives that drive organizational growth. Review and approve internal policies, procedures, compliance documents and external legislation outcomes. Coordinate program analyses, research studies, and internal audits, ensuring accurate data interpretation. Provide technical expertise in data engineering, reporting and analytics to support DFPS operations. Represent the agency in communications with partners, stakeholders and external partners. Qualifications Experience managing a business function or department related to data engineering in a public‑sector environment. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year institution (major coursework preferably in data science, computer science, public administration or related field). Education and work experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Proficiency in logic, reasoning, data analysis, and use of software tools. Ability to maintain security and integrity of infrastructure per Executive Order GA‑48 and relevant Texas statutes. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing data management, privacy and public administration. Strong communication skills, ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate across departments. Experience with legislative analysis and developing related reporting requirements. Background check and driver’s record check (if applicable) required. Adherence to security and cybersecurity policies, including Section 117.001(2) and EIR accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508).
