(SEA) Camp Director

This is a summer position in the Parks and Recreation Division. The incumbent reports to Recreation Coordinators, Assistant Recreation Coordinators, the Recreation Supervisor and the Division Chief. The work involves teaching and planning activities within a prescribed recreation interest area. Essential Job Functions Organizes and directs a complete summer camp program at a local school site or community center. Develops and maintains a daily schedule of arts and crafts, games, sports, and trips for youth. Supervises and leads participants in scheduled activities. Supervises and directs the work of paid and volunteer aides and summer youth aides. Maintains records of attendance requested by the Department. Other Job Duties (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Performs any other duties as assigned which relate to successful operation of a camp program. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.) Camp programs. Organize and supervise work of others. Read and write. Prepare accurate records. Interact well with children. Maintain good working relationships with parents, community and co-workers. Deal effectively with the public. Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full‑time year for year basis.) Training and or Education High School diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Six months of experience working with children. Licenses or Certificates None Special Requirements Subject to a background investigation. Physical Demands Work requires medium to heavy physical effort.
