Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller supports the financial integrity of United Ag by overseeing core accounting functions related to the cooperative. This role is responsible for general ledger oversight, financial reporting, and supporting audit processes, while partnering with operational leaders to ensure accurate cost tracking, inventory valuation, and budget alignment across the cooperative. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Support and review general ledger activity for all operations Assist in month-end and year-end close processes Ensure accuracy of financial statements and supporting schedules Monitor account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports Support audit processes (internal/external) and documentation requests Ensure compliance with cooperatives accounting standards Assist in tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements Budgeting & Forecasting Support annual budgeting process across departments Analyze variances and provide insight to leadership Partner with CFO on forecasting and financial planning Perform any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. Qualifications Education/Certification/ Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience with general ledger, close processes, and financial reporting Special Knowledge/Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to partner cross-functionally with operations teams Strong systems knowledge Ability to translate financial data into business insights Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience: This position is designed to accommodate a range of experience levels, including: Entry-level candidates (including recent graduates) with strong academic foundation and/or internship experience.
