Position Title: Quality Control / Assurance – Hourly PositionsPosition Purpose: Inspect pipe, operate equipment, demonstrates knowledge of operational processes. Performs required work safely and uniformly within operation guidelines & standards but does not necessarily have proven proficiency in specific skillset within department.Job AssignmentsCore AccountabilitiesProve Up OperatorUtilizes handheld device to identify test and identify flaws for rework.Communicates testing results.SEA AssistantAlign pipe and position magnetic rod for testing.Generally assist Operator.SEA OperatorPerforms NDT mag particle testing on threaded pipe with precision and efficiency.Identifies flaws in pipe.Orders cut-offs for pipe as needed.FBUT OperatorOperates machinery to test various quality standardsSuccessfully detects and communicates surface, subsurface, internal, and dimensional flaws in pipeQuality Lead/ForemanDirects the work of other Operators to perform operation processes efficiently and effectively.Directly supervises / manages Specialists and Thread Inspectors and ensures their productivity and accuracy meets expectations.As needed, can and does perform the role of these positions.Quality Lab TechCollects, organizes, and preps samples for testing.Efficiently performs and accurately evaluates all applicable testing.Maintains reports on testing results.Assists Supervisor with inventory and product reporting.Other: Temporarily assume the duties and responsibilities of other roles, as directed by management. Positively represents the company with all.Qualifications and Essential FunctionsExperience Required:Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment. Six (6)+ months of training & close supervision in position.For foreman: Six (6)+ months of experience in supervisory role.Education/Experience (REQUIRED):High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; Certification a plus.Skills/Abilities:Ability to work overtime in order to meet the needs of the operation.Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance. Visual ability consisting of strong close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Perform intense manual labor with long work hours. Ability to stand for a long period of time; bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move around work area.Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with arms.Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally, and 20 lbs regularly.Demonstrates skill in operating equipment.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to read a minimum of Jaeger 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and mass; and interpret bar graphs.Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments – Scale in 1/8”, 1/16”, 1/32” and 1/64” increments – 12” to 72” long; Protractor Head, Diameter Tape – 100’s increments, Micrometers, Diameter Tape – 1/64” increments, 6” Vernier Caliper, 50’ Tapes, Ring Gauges, Squares, Levels, Line Levels, Various Tape Measures, Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction, Fraction to Decimal), Tri-Square, String Line, Feeler Gauges, Overhead Scale, Dial Indicators, CalipersCOMMUNICATION:Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with employees via conversation or in writing.Ability to read and interpret product specifications such as work orders and travelers.Ability to effectively present information to management.Ability to effectively speak before groups and/or customers.Ability to speak, read, and write English for the purpose of product specification interpretation and training and safety materials comprehension.TRAVEL:NegligibleENVIRONMENTAL:Ability to work most effectively in an industrial workshop field setting while also capable of managing tools, inventory, and equipment as part of the daily work activities and management. Wet and humid conditions / subject to outdoor weather conditions such as heat. Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate to high noise.
