District Support Pharmacist Full Time

Job Purpose At CVS Health, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as a role model, supporting the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Technicians, and ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and immunization practices. DSPs cover scheduling gaps, lead daily operations, and promote positive patient experiences through compassionate care and collaboration across the care team. Responsibilities Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures. Take day‑to‑day managerial duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist-on‑duty. Coach the pharmacy team in demonstrating empathy, collaborative care, and handling insurance or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, following best practices and protecting cold‑chain products. Maintain flexibility in scheduling and contribute to a safe, inclusive team dynamic. Keep clinical and technical skills current through required trainings and continuing medical education. Deliver pharmacist‑delivered clinical care (e.g., COVID/Flu testing, Hormonal Contraception prescribing) to improve patient outcomes when permissible. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, particularly regarding controlled substances and patient privacy. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to meet staffing needs. Maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within specified timeframes. Concentrate on tasks and shift quickly between priorities. Confirm prescription information accuracy and label correctness. Demonstrate strong customer service, team orientation, communication, mathematic reasoning, and problem‑resolution skills. Meet physical demands such as lifting, reaching, and manipulating items up to 20 lb. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
