About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM) Experience: Minimum of 24 months of current operating room experience License: Active Iowa license or compact/multistate license Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - CVOR experience - General circulating experience - Strong proficient experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures - Basic general surgery circulating experience - EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years - Trauma level II experience - Scrub experience including open heart scrubbing - Completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months Description: Quickly interviewing viable candidates. Candidates should expect to work holidays if the unit is open. Call tasks may occur on weekends, from the end of the shift on Friday until 6:30 AM Monday. A typical case load averages 35-50 cases per day. Expectation for turnovers is less than 20 minutes. There are 16 operating rooms, running 12-14 routinely. The facility reserves space for traumas as it is a Level 1 trauma center. Candidates will be required to float across all campuses. The preferred experience mix is 80% in cardiac cases and 20% in general cases. Candidates should have the ability to circulate general operating room cases. During the first 6 weeks, candidates will engage in general call for the department. Charge nurses will not place nurses in cases they are unprepared to handle. The candidate must provide a work history and resume demonstrating the required experience. References from supervisors or management within the last 24 months are preferred.
