Clinical Research Assistant, Department of Surgery, Trauma Surgery Research

Professional, compassionate and detail-oriented Clinical Research Assistant needed for the Trauma Surgery Clinical Research Group in the Department of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The role supports the Principal Investigator and study team in clinical trials, focusing on subject recruitment, screening, data collection, and sample handling. Job Overview Assist with recruitment and retention of research participants, perform routine clinical procedures, and manage study data and sample logistics to support industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials. Essential Functions Assist physicians, nurses, and researchers during clinical studies. Perform routine physical and clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, vital sign collection, and EKGs according to study protocols. Assist with processing, storage, and shipment of research samples. Schedule study-related appointments and return visits by phone. Clean instruments and equipment and prepare for autoclave. Welcome and assist study participants with registration, provide general information, and ensure accurate completion of paperwork. Accurately enter data from electronic medical records or paper charts into study-specific electronic data capture systems in a timely manner. May perform venipunctures as required. Perform other related duties based on departmental need. Required Education High School Diploma or GED. Required Experience None. Additional Qualifications Considered Associate’s degree in healthcare or another related field. Two (2) years of general workforce experience. Good organizational and problem‑solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Willingness and ability to adhere to flex work schedules, including weekend hours. One year of experience in a research setting with human subjects. Proficiency with personal computers and software/database applications (e.g., EPIC, OnBase, Microsoft Office Suite). Physical Requirements / Work Environment Office environment; no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
