We are committed to providing experiences promoting scientific inquiry and discovery and dedicated to creating opportunities for intellectual growth and community involvement.The general purpose of the position is to plan and coordinate the large number of communications in multiple media formats to ensure that the internal and external face of the College of Science and Mathematics adheres to the highest standards of communication. The position supports all five Strategic Priorities of the university's Creating a Legacy Like No Other Strategic Plan: Learning (Providing Impactful Learning Experiences); Discovery (Interdisciplinary and Collaborative Discovery, Accelerating Student's Connection to Research and Creativity); Student Success (Educational Access and Value, Providing a Life-Changing University Experience); Community (Strengthening Community Stakeholder's Connection to AU); and Stewardship (Philanthropic Investment, Increasing Research Support). The communications strategist will work closely with the Provost's Academic Communications Director, AU Communications and Marketing, and CSM leadership to maintain a positive public image, promote college and department programs, and publicize student and faculty achievements in alignment with university standards.The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Communications and Marketing Strategy and Planning; Content Development and Management; Newsletter; Social Media Management; Event Management; Other.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of three years of direct related communication/marketing experience. Excellent organizational, prioritization skills. Must confidentially, work independently and exercise sound judgement, high degree of professionalism, work well under pressure and manage deadlines.Preferred Educational Qualifications Degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, or related field. Additional Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated excellence in writing for publication, marketing and branding, web design and maintenance. Experience in newsletter/magazine production. Skills in photography, videography, and visual design. Demonstrated ability to work independently, work well under pressure, and manage deadlines successfully. Preferred Experience Customer service, visual design, marketing, web design, event planning, and project management.The communication strategist should be able to use standard software and other tools of the trade approved and endorsed by Communications and Marketing. For example: Basic skills in PowerPoint, Poppulo, Carousel, Camtasia, newsletter formatting tools, etc. Photography/Videography/Visual Design Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, PremierePro) and Acrobat Pro Proficiency with basic web editing/publishing tasks Proficiency with common social media platforms Working knowledge of databases, operating systems, and spreadsheets in computer software systems. Creativity, branding, visual design sense, understanding UX, print design, familiarity with design software, HTML, CSS (cascading style sheets), typography, superior customer service skill, and project management.Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position) Pay Band: B10 Salary Range: $52,500/annually - $54,080/annually Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
