You will serve as a LEAD POLICE OFFICER in the FORCE PROTECTION (N34) of NAVBASE VENTURA COUNTY SEC.

Help

  • You will serve as a Lead Police Officer, typically referred to as Sergeants, and will be responsible to your supervisor for ensuring that the

    work assignments of the other employees of the team are carried out by performing a range of duties.
  • You will provide advanced Anti-Terrorism (AT), Physical Security (PS), Law Enforcement (LE), and Reaction Force (RF) expertise/support at specified CNIC Navy Installations and activities.
  • You will estimate and report on expected time of completion of work, and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports as requested.
  • You will give on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
  • You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD, and Navy regulations, and installation directives, rules and regulations.
  • You will Conduct preliminary and non-criminal investigations in compliance with probable cause requirements.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • Must successfully complete a DoD approved Police Training Academy or equivalent course, e.g. Navy Police Officer Academy; a federal or military police academy; or equivalent law enforcement training.
  • You will be required to successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or Department of the Navy

    mental and emotional stability screening, physical ability test, and physical fitness for duty test.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Examples of 1)Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy; 2)Give on-the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Maintain current knowledge and answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc., and obtain needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up; 3) Responds immediately, assesses and reports situation, and conducts mitigating actions and preliminary investigations relating to a full spectrum of critical incidents including acts of terrorism, active shooter, mass casualty incidents, natural disasters, traffic accidents, domestic violence, assaults, sexual assaults, child abuse/neglect, and are required to demonstrate proficiency on a regular basis; 4) Performs a full range of force protection, anti-terrorism and sentry duties at installations or activities with significant operational assets, unrestricted access points, large populations onboard and around the installation/activity, or other characteristics that require the incumbent to utilize a higher level of awareness and comprehension in order to deter, detect, delay and deny unauthorized access at CNIC installations, internal compounds, enclaves, critical infrastructure, and incident established cordons; 5) Serves as a primary investigator of offenses committed by or against military and civilian personnel, or against government and private property located on Navy installations OR provides investigative support on segments of more extensive investigations to Detectives; 6) Conducts investigations that are below the current Defense Criminal Investigative Organization or dedicated Investigator/Detective threshold. the incumbent trains and participates in exercises, demonstrations, mock situations, and other practical scenarios wherein potential critical situations are performed and assessed to assure adequate preparation and resources are available to meet emergency requirements.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. "Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
