At Network for Hope (NFH) , the Organ Services Educator serves as the subject matter expert for training and education within the Donor Evaluation, Management, and Outcomes service line. This role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering education and competency programs that promote clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistency across the department. The Organ Services Educator provides teaching, coaching, mentoring, evaluation, and support to team members while partnering with department leadership and the Education & Development Manager to identify educational priorities and ensure staff are equipped to deliver exceptional patient care and donation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Education & Orientation

• Collaborate with department leadership and the Education & Development Manager to develop and deliver training presentations, onboarding programs, certification preparation courses, and ongoing education utilizing adult learning principles.
• Maintain current knowledge of policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring educational materials reflect the most current standards and expectations.
• Facilitate clinical, classroom, simulation, in-person, and virtual training for new and existing staff.
• Manage orientee schedules to ensure appropriate classroom and field experiences, including adjusting planned case activities when appropriate.
• Provide education and training related to the implementation of new clinical processes.
• Maintain professional competency through required internal education and external learning opportunities.
• Guide and support new Donor Evaluation, Management, and Outcomes team members as they integrate into the organization's culture, clinical practice, and operational environment.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Education & Development Department and the associated service line for all training-related activities.

Documentation, Improvement & Regulatory Compliance

• Establish a standard of excellence in departmental documentation by promoting accuracy and developing best practices.
• Document training progress accurately and within established timeframes.
• Complete final signoff for all orientation skills and competency checklists.
• Document orientation progress and provide timely feedback to support new hire evaluations and check-ins.
• Assist with preparation for regulatory surveys through education and competency readiness activities.
• Collaborate with Quality, Clinical Leadership, and operational teams to ensure education supports regulatory compliance and evidence-based practice.
• Incorporate quality improvement findings into educational programming.
• Maintain education records and competency documentation in accordance with organizational requirements.
• Participate in case reviews and debriefings to promote learning and continuous improvement.

Competency Assessment

• Evaluate clinical competency through observation, coaching, validation, and competency assessments to ensure staff demonstrate proficiency prior to completing orientation.
• Establish learning objectives and assign educational activities that support orientee development.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of multiple orientees and modify educational plans as needed.
• Collaborate with department leadership and the Education & Development Manager to develop and administer milestone competency assessments.
• Validate orientee understanding of NFH Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory standards, including CMS and OPTN.
• Partner with Quality & Safety, Performance Improvement, and Human Resources to address educational needs identified through performance evaluations, audits, incidents, hospital feedback, and regulatory reviews.
• Conduct regular debriefings with orientees, staff, and leadership to evaluate progress, identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, and document clinical experiences.
• Assist with annual competency validation for existing staff.
• Coordinate and support the preceptor program through preceptor selection, development, evaluation, and continuing education.

Collaboration & Communication

• Provide timely, objective, and constructive feedback to department leadership and the Education & Development Manager regarding orientation progress and staff development.
• Maintain proactive communication with team members, preceptors, leadership, and fellow educators to ensure consistent orientation and competency validation.
• Model exemplary communication and professionalism with internal and external partners while demonstrating Network for Hope's core values.
• Participate in the 30-, 60-, and 90-day new hire check-in process.
• Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments.
• Serve as a trusted resource to department leadership by providing recommendations regarding orientation progress, competency development, educational priorities, and strategies that promote clinical excellence.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain CPTC certification.
• Participate in committees, workgroups, and interdisciplinary teams as assigned.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and departmental projects that support organizational goals.

Relationship Management & Organizational Support

• Build collaborative relationships across Clinical Operations, Hospital Services, Communications, Quality, Education, and Administration.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in donor family support and authorization services.
• Partner with organizational leadership to develop strategic initiatives that improve donation outcomes.
• Participate in departmental and organizational strategic planning initiatives and contribute to the achievement of Network for Hope's strategic goals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience in a clinical setting required.

Experience: Two years of critical care experience in healthcare required. Minimum 18 months experience as an Organ Recovery Coordinator required. Experience in a similar role responsible for donor management, allocation, and organ recovery management will be reviewed and considered on a case-by-case basis. Previous experience as educator or conducting instructor-led clinical based training including designing materials preferred

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) required or to be obtained within one year of eligibility.
