Deliver Driver and Team Lead for Home Furnishings Store

We are a Locally Owned Furniture & Home Accessories Retailer and we are looking for an experienced Delivery Driver and Team Lead to join our company! The right person will have experience in safely driving and operating a 26 ft box truck and also experience in home deliveries of large items, like home furnishings. About The Role As the Delivery Driver & Team Lead, you'll lead daily delivery operations while working hands‑on alongside your team. You'll guide and coach delivery staff, maintain vehicle and safety standards, coordinate with our warehouse and scheduling teams, and ensure every delivery reflects the quality and care our customers expect. When not on deliveries, you'll support warehouse operations and contribute to training and team development. Delivery Leadership & Execution Lead daily furniture deliveries throughout the Kansas City metro area and beyond as needed Confirm correct items are loaded, transported, and delivered safely and on schedule Support in‑home placement, basic assembly, and care of customer property Maintain white‑glove delivery standards and customer‑focused communication at all times Verify delivery photos are taken, uploaded, and orders are updated in Shopify Team Guidance & Development Coach and support delivery team members through daily feedback and hands‑on instruction Lead onboarding for new delivery staff through ride‑alongs and supervised practice Share product knowledge, furniture handling expertise, and best practices with the team Vehicle Readiness & Safety Confirm vehicles are fueled, clean, inspected, and ready for daily operations Reinforce safe driving practices and proper use of all equipment and mechanical aid Properly use tools like furniture dollies, floor dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks, moving straps, furniture sliders, etc. Model and enforce PPE standards at all times including lift protocols and safe moving techniques in all environments, including in and out of customer homes Furniture Quality Control Inspect, clean, condition, and prepare all furniture prior to delivery Identify and address minor cosmetic issues before items reach the customer Cross‑Department Collaboration Support Monday Floor Moves with the Visuals and Design teams Collaborate with Scheduling, Warehouse, and Design teams to keep operations running smoothly When not on deliveries, all team members are expected to assist with receiving, staging, assembly, inventory counts, and end‑of‑day truck cleanout What We're Looking For Proven reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic Ability to lead, coach, and support team members constructively Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing 75+ lbs regularly Comfortable working in warehouse environments, delivery vehicles, and customer homes Valid Class E License or above is required (CDL helpful but not required) Prior experience in delivery, warehouse operations, or furniture handling preferred Must pass a pre‑employment background check Must successfully pass a Missouri Department of Transportation physical examination for DOT medical certification Requires knowledge of safe moving and material handling practices, including proper use of dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks, straps, sliders, and lift gates What We Offer Full‑time salaried position with consistent weekly hours A supportive, team‑oriented work environment where good people thrive Opportunities to grow in a leadership role within our delivery and warehouse operations Employee discount on furniture, home accessories, and more The chance to be part of a locally owned business that genuinely cares about its team and community Sound like you?
