Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician - perform and coordinate the daily maintenance and repair of the Districts water and wastewater systems.

This position plays an important role in ensuring safe, reliable, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operations through hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, technical expertise, and coordination of field activities.

Position Highlights

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater facilities, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, valves, piping, mechanical equipment, and related systems
    Assist with facility, equipment, and asset maintenance
  • Work with SCADA, PLC, and other operational control systems
  • Coordinate with operations staff to support safe and reliable District services
  • Respond to maintenance needs and emergency situations as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 35 years of experience in water and/or wastewater operations and maintenance
  • Valid drivers license
  • Applicable Montana DEQ Water and Wastewater certifications for the systems being operated


Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional experience with water and sewer systems
  • Experience with facility and asset maintenance management
  • Experience with SCADA or PLC systems
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and reliable public service
