Responsibilities Provide quality patient care including intensive respiratory care and patient transport, according to medical orders and within scope of professional license. Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans. Explain purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide education upon discharge to home. Conduct physician‑prescribed treatments involving various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non‑invasive, as well as oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation. Perform chest physiotherapy using equipment to promote secretion clearance. Perform suctioning by oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods. Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring as per policy. Review patient chest x‑rays routinely to determine need for further evaluation. Perform 12‑Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition. Perform pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC) according to policy. Assist with procedures related to respiratory care such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, etc., as per policy. Drain chest via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable. Provide tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tubes. Perform arterial puncture and determine ventilation efficiency, monitor, record, and report test results. Follow laboratory testing policies for moderate‑complexity labs including specimen handling, equipment use, documentation, reporting, quality controls, and maintenance across pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic phases. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines. Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free‑hand technique or video laryngoscopy. Set up and perform self‑test on all ventilatory equipment and operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation across equipment types. Assist with preventive maintenance and repair of equipment as needed. Record all pertinent information on respiratory therapy records and patient charts, including pre‑ and post‑assessment. Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy effectiveness. Report necessary information during walk‑through rounds for shift‑to‑shift handoff. Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging, including data entry, verification, and error correction. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required. Proficiency in mechanical ventilation, patient transport, and respiratory therapy procedures.
