Openings as of 6/10/2026 School Psychologist JobID: 18427 Position Type: Certified - Special Education Date Posted: 6/4/2026 Location: STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT (High-Needs School) POSITION PURPOSE The School Psychologist plays a crucial role in promoting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students by providing comprehensive psychological services within the school environment. This position is dedicated to identifying students' unique needs through assessments and evaluations, developing individualized intervention plans, and collaborating closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success. The School Psychologist also contributes to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere by delivering crisis intervention, counseling, and staff training. Through data‑driven practices and culturally responsive approaches, this role ensures that all students have equitable access to the resources and support necessary to thrive academically and personally. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participate in school‑based intervention (RTI/MTSS) meetings, including consultation services for students in need of academic and behavioral intervention, assistance with developing intervention plans, and assisting with goal setting and data collection. Participate in the school‑based behavior intervention process(es), providing consultation services and collaboration with the PBIS team, teachers, and staff to develop positive classroom management strategies and maintain behavior interventions, completing FBA/BIP procedures for students with significant behavioral problems, and assisting with data collection and progress monitoring. Participate in the Referral/Evaluation Planning process for students suspected of having a disability, developing appropriate evaluation plans, explaining due process rights to parent/guardian, and making recommendations for assistance. Conduct psychological evaluations of students referred for evaluations, completing assessments within the 60‑day timeline, providing results to team members within 45 days, and scheduling the Eligibility Determination meeting. Participate in the Reevaluation process, monitoring timelines, scheduling meetings with case managers, and completing reevaluation assessments before the due date. Assist with the development and monitoring of Section 504 plans, attending Initial Eligibility meetings and evaluating eligibility and accommodations. Conduct individual and/or group counseling for students demonstrating difficulties, supporting IEP teams in identifying students who need counseling, writing goals, monitoring progress, and documenting parental permission and session details. Collect, compile, and maintain appropriate data for required reports, including maintaining an evaluation spreadsheet and activity log. Participate in staff meetings and training activities. Develop professional goals to keep abreast of new developments in the field. ADDITIONAL DUTIES Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Student Services Officer, Superintendent, or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS Must have a valid South Carolina teaching certificate or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired. A Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology. EXPERIENCE Must have completed a program of study in School Psychology from an accredited college or university.
