Brookfield is committed to the development of our people through challenging work assignments and exposure to diverse businesses.Job DescriptionThe attorney will be a member of Brookfield’s real estate group and serve as legal lead for certain of Brookfield’s real estate funds. No prior experience is required in real estate funds or funds legal operations, but the candidate must have a background in private equity fund formation.Responsibilities:Serve as lead in-house counsel embedded in Brookfield’s real estate business group for a variety of real estate funds, including real estate equity, credit and secondary closed-end and open-end fundsOversee real estate fund legal operations throughout the lifecycle of the real estate funds in coordination with various business stakeholdersLead fundraising for co-invests, club funds and certain bespoke new productsFund operations duties include:Leading investment structuring with finance operations and taxOverseeing corporate governance matters for all fund entitiesCoordinating with external counsel and business on the negotiation of credit facilities and ISDAsReviewing investment committee memorandumsPreparing and reviewing conflicts committee and LPAC materialsEnsuring business operations are in compliance with fund agreements and regulationsDrafting and negotiating ancillary fund operational legal documents, including confidentiality agreements and service provider contractsOversee outside counsel and service providersQualifications:J.D. with at least 6 years of experience as a lawyer in a major law firm or in-housePrivate fund experience and knowledge of the U.S. Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and U.S. securities laws requiredExceptional attention to detailExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsSalary Range: $260,000 - $360,000Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive.
