Engineer the infrastructure that serves Boca Raton

Bring your civil engineering experience to public works infrastructure design, maintenance and capital improvements. With support, you will manage projects from concept through construction, administer contracts, inspect construction and review developer engineering plans. What you will do

• Prepare and review estimates, designs and specifications for in-house and consultant capital projects; prepare maps, plans, profiles and field notes.
• Manage projects, administer contracts and approve pay requests, invoices and change orders; coordinate consulting engineers, agencies and contractors.
• Review and approve site and construction plans for codes, standards and sound engineering. Evaluate new development and redevelopment against federal, state and local requirements and recommend revisions.
• Monitor private developer permits and conduct construction inspections to verify compliance.
• Support NPDES municipal and private development compliance and City stormwater reporting; work with the GIS Analyst on stormwater asset and operations data.
• Assist long-range capital planning, support the Stormwater and Streets divisions, and respond to residents, businesses and other City customers.

This position reports to the Assistant City Engineer or Capital Improvement Project Manager. Attend after-hours meetings as needed.

Required qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Engineering or a related field.
• Three or more years of engineering work related to Public Works and/or Utilities. A masters degree is equivalent to one year of experience; this equivalency does not waive certificate or drivers license requirements.
• Florida Engineering in Training or Engineer Intern certificate.
• Valid Florida Class E drivers license with no more than six points in a three-year period.

Bring knowledge of civil engineering design, construction and maintenance; construction management; governing laws; plan preparation and review; survey systems; engineering drafting and computer-aided drafting. Technical report writing, clear communication and effective stakeholder relationships are essential.

Preferred qualification

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
