PRN Staff Pharmacist

PRN Staff Pharmacist Location: New Bern, PRN Staff Pharmacist. This position is as needed, working varying weekdays from Monday to Saturday. Hours and specific days will vary week to week. The role may also include serving as interim PIC for pharmacies to be opened in the near future for application purposes. As an integral part of the pharmacy team, you will practice pharmacy consistent with company expectations and applicable state and federal laws and regulations in a fast‑paced environment focused on dispensing accuracy and patient care. You will perform duties in both the adjudication and production work environments while providing direct supervision of Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians. Immediate Supervisor Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) Qualifications BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited institution An active, valid pharmacist license that is in good standing in NC with no restrictions Certified Immunizer At least one year pharmacy experience in a retail setting including prescription filling, verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems, and insurance Experience performing prescription dispensing activities and strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws Excellent communication skills Customer Service Skills Computer skills Clinical experience/skills Proficient in use of Windows-based computer programs and Microsoft Office Ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional, organized, and friendly manner Proving basic quantitative abilities Possess excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of audience Detail-oriented, accurately follow established procedures for completing work, and initiate action to correct quality problems Effectively manage time, stay focused, and ensure performance objectives and deadlines are met Effectively and proactively meet customer needs and provide excellent interpersonal relationship skills Plan, organize, and prioritize work activities to meet business needs Physical Demands Exposure to a normal office environment Lift, carry, and/or push/pull various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while using proper technique Lift up to 35 pounds from floor to chest level and lift and carry up to 35 pounds at waist height a reasonable distance Stand for the majority of workday (8-10 hours) or for long periods of time depending on the needs of the pharmacy operation Operate all equipment necessary to do the job Responsibilities Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues in a timely manner and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience Model and share customer service best practices with all pharmacy team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Goshen Medical Center's service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.) Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating customer needs and proactively offering services; support efforts on enhancing customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services such as patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and perform retail, clinical, or wellness services (e.g., immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness), thereby promoting the shift of the pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal Participate and assist necessary events as requested by Corporate Staff, Director of Pharmacy Program, Pharmacy Manager, or PIC Operations Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management; review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications when necessitated by workload Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies and standards; assist PIC with establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow of the pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting employee suggestions Responsible for opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties Ensure the use of all elements of the state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems to provide support to customers and pharmacy staff; propose and implement enhancements to pharmacy systems to further promote productivity as needed Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections; follow up with insurance companies as well as medical providers and participate in third-party audit Follow up with medical providers in-house and in other offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies to suggest alternative medications, and answer medical provider questions Perform 340B, retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness and other preventive healthcare services Assist and support PIC and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing performance data including pharmacy financials, customer service, and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management Develop and maintain good relationships with in-house staff and other members of the Goshen Medical Center Offices and members of the local medical community (physicians, nurses, and other health care providers); participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities as needed and directed Meet or exceed daily workflow expectations Provide on-call counseling services for patients utilizing the mail-order option based on business needs during business hours Perform other duties and responsibilities as required Package prescriptions for shipping and create shipping label(s) via FedEx to send orders to patients Prepare for next day's duties Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy area People & Performance Management Assist the PIC and Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training; reinforce the direction of PIC and Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision Training & Personal Development Obtain necessary on-the-job training and other education to help understand HRSA and 340B Pharmacy Program Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy related journals, company publications, and communications; maintain awareness of developments in 340B, retail and management and pursue best practices that would enhance performance Obtain necessary certifications, education credits and training as required by Goshen Medical Center Seek professional development by monitoring performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging PIC and Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy Program as mentors and coaches Communications Support PIC, Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy Program by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff #J-18808-Ljbffr JobRx, Inc.
