BEC COPACKERS / Facilities Maintenance Technician Location: Slidell, LA Reports To: General Manager Position Summary The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep, safety, and functionality of the BEC facilities and all buildingrelated systems. This role focuses exclusively on facility infrastructure not manufacturing equipment or production machinery. The technician ensures the building, grounds, utilities, and support systems remain in excellent working condition to support ongoing facility operations, compliance, and asset preservation. Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine inspections of the building, grounds, and facility systems. Maintain and repair lighting, plumbing, electrical fixtures, HVAC filters, and general building components. Patch walls, repair doors, paint as needed, replace ceiling tiles, and handle minor carpentry tasks. Maintain restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and common areas in safe working order. Oversee contracted pest control, waste removal, and facility cleanliness standards. Grounds & Exterior Maintain exterior areas including parking lots, walkways, landscaping, and drainage. Monitor roof condition, gutters, downspouts, and exterior lighting. Coordinate storm prep and poststorm facility checks. Safety & Compliance Ensure facility safety systems (emergency lighting, exit signs, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations) are functional and compliant. Understand what it means for OSHA, and general safety requirements related to the building. Identify hazards and implement corrective actions promptly. Vendor & Contractor Coordination Serve as onsite contact for facilityrelated vendors (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, security, etc.). Oversee contractor work to ensure quality and adherence to BEC standards. Assist with providing information in obtaining quotes and scheduling facility services. Preventive Maintenance Be able to understand preventive maintenance schedules for all facility systems. Be able to document all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs as requested. Assist as needed to track facility supplies and reorder as needed. General Support Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and storage organization. Support facility shutdown, preservation, and asset removal activities. Respond to facility emergencies and afterhours issues when required. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in maintenance preferably building maintenance. Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC support. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, safety procedures, and basic schematics. Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid drivers license. Preferred Qualifications Experience or understanding in commercial or industrial facilities Familiarity with OSHA facility safety standards not required, but must learn. Basic computer skills for logging work orders and maintenance records. Experience coordinating with outside contractors as needed. Machinery equipment repair a plus but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in elevated or confined spaces. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Work Environment Industrial facility environment with routine exposure to noise, dust, and standard maintenance conditions.
