Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced data privacy and cybersecurity attorney to join the Practical Law Global Data Privacy & Cybersecurity team in the United States. Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert-created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Role Purpose Create and maintain high-quality online legal content and use legal and subject matter expertise to support the development of Thomson Reuters’ AI-powered legal solutions. About The Role As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. Responsibilities Research, draft, and maintain clear, current, and practical data privacy and cybersecurity legal know‑how content for Practical Law and other Thomson Reuters products and initiatives. Monitor legal, practice, and market developments in data privacy and cybersecurity globally to ensure content remains relevant and accurate. Use legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused AI‑powered tools, identifying and implementing methods that address the intersection of content development and AI‑driven legal solutions. Partner with Product Management to innovate on tech development, product enhancements, and the integration of AI into Thomson Reuters offerings. Support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools using legal expertise and writing skills. Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors and industry groups to ensure content reflects market practice and meets customer needs. Support sales, marketing, and other parts of the business, including responding to customer inquiries. Qualifications JD required. Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience working as a lawyer in a law firm or in‑house with experience in both US and non‑US data privacy and cybersecurity matters, with a focus on compliance. Experience managing complex, global privacy compliance matters under data protection laws in the EU, Asia‑Pacific, and Latin America a plus. Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies. Deep curiosity about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, with a desire to build legal prompt engineering skills and innovative content development methods that optimize AI responses for specific legal tasks. Understanding of current market issues and proposals to enact, amend, or change data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations. Understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys, in‑house counsel, and other data privacy and cybersecurity compliance professionals. Skill and passion for writing and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and concisely in plain English. Innovative, agile thinker with excellent time management, organizational skills, and demonstrated project management. Enthusiasm for working on a dynamic editorial team, comfortable working in an environment of rapid change, and a passion for exploring how AI can revolutionize editorial content creation.
