Registered Behavior Technician

Position Purpose: The job of the RBT is to assist in the supervision, care and instruction of students who are experiencing behavioral challenges in and out of the classroom. This position implements behavior management plans, takes data, and helps to support school personnel on behavior management plans as well as individual education plans.

Requirements:

• All employees must have a current TB test (Tuberculosis). If you've had a recent TB Test (less than 12 months ago) we can accept a copy of your test results. If it's been more than 1 year ago, you will be required to obtain a new test. Employees are responsible for the cost of the test.
• Must present pre-employment physical prior to first day of work.

Qualifications:

• Applicant should be able to document two or more years of training and/or experience in the implementation of effective behavior management principles for students with behavioral challenges, including, positive behavioral supports, de-escalation strategies, and trauma informed practices, with school aged students.
• Preferred; a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or willing to complete training requirements for becoming a Registered Behavior Technician.
• Current Certification of Health, including negative TB test.
• Completion of clear, criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires prolonged sitting or standing
• Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push Conditions heavy objects or materials up to 20 pounds
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments

Job Functions:

• Carry out intense behavioral and social programming with students
• Implement specially designed instruction and supports as identified on student's individual education plan
• Assist the BCBA/Behavior Specialists in developing Functional Behavior Assessments and related Behavior Intervention Plans
• Deliver consistent, positive behavioral support in the classroom
• Intervene with appropriate team-identified strategies when challenging behavior occurs
• Assist certified staff in developing individual student materials
• Participate in team meetings as appropriate
• Assist certified staff in the training of other staff and paraprofessionals
• Assist students in generalizing skills to small groups and other instructional settings
• Maintain student confidentiality at all times
• Assist with ongoing data collection regarding student behavior and social skill development and generalization
• Perform related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the educational team
• Working under direct supervision using standardized practices; providing student classroom and building information to certified/classified staff when necessary

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
