Respiratory Therapist

This is a night shift position with a 3x12.0 schedule.

This is a 13-week contract position.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by administering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, operating within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explaining procedures and equipment usage to patients while providing education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices for medication administration.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography and conduct routine chest x-ray reviews to assess the need for further evaluation.
• Execute pulmonary function studies and assist with various respiratory care-related procedures, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including both emergent and non-emergent tube management.
• Conduct arterial puncture and monitor ventilation efficiency while documenting results and reporting to relevant medical personnel.
• Engage in preventive maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment as needed.
• Record all pertinent information and patient responses on respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians about therapy efficiency and participate in shift-to-shift communication during rounds.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must possess the necessary licenses and certifications relevant to the respiratory therapy profession.
