SUPERVISOR OF ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Position Details Salary: $10,261.00 – $13,489.00 per Month (minimum salary for new to state candidates). Final Filing Date: 6/4/2026. Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday (other shift options 12:30 PM – 8:30 PM may apply). Work Location: Valley State Prison, Chowchilla, CA. Position Type: Permanent, Full Time. Telework: In Office. Hiring restrictions: Positions will be filled in accordance with implemented hiring restrictions. Supervisor of Academic Instruction, Correctional Facility (Valley State Prison) Responsibilities Assist in planning, development, and implementation of education programs. Conduct on‑site monitoring and evaluation of education programs. Review educational processes and recommend teaching resources and instructional methods. Assist with education teacher hiring, staff development, and program implementation. Collaborate with educational and custodial staff to identify effective solutions to programming issues. Develop timely resolutions and highlight exemplary educational procedures. Minimum Requirements Must have taken and passed the appropriate examination for this classification. Must be a current state employee with lateral transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility. Eligibility for a Training and Development assignment is a plus. Must meet the minimum qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). Desirable Qualifications Strong leadership skills. Broad experience within the field of Education. Advanced knowledge of education program management, staff training and development, and facility operations. Ability to evaluate, implement, and direct Adult School programs within a correctional setting. Ability to work unsupervised. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to thoroughly complete work assignments under the pressure of established deadlines.
