Summary: Critical Access Hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine is seeking a CRNA to join an all-CRNA team with 17 weeks off annually. The role offers independent practice (must perform blocks; willing to train motivated candidates), covers CAH bread-and-butter cases (no OB), and provides anesthesia services for Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency, and Medical areas at MDIH.

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

• Graduate from an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Holds current Maine RN/APNP license.
• Graduate from accredited School of Anesthesia.
• Current Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification.
• Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certification required.
• Allied Health Member of the MDIH Medical Staff.

Experience Required:

• Minimum five years staff anesthetist experience preferred.
• Experience with general, regional, and local anesthetic techniques.
• Experience with regional blocks preferred.
• Experience in general surgical, urological, ophthalmologic, vascular, gynecological and orthopedic procedures.

Special Requirements:

• Proficient IV access skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Emotional maturity and good people skills required.

Cognitive Requirements:

• Ability to take in, process and apply clinical information in a wide variety of patient care situations.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in emergency situations and cope effectively with stress.
• Ability to evaluate/anticipate surgeon's needs.

Physical Demands:

• Must have adequate hearing, vision, and manual dexterity.
• Must be able to engage in long periods of standing/sitting/walking.
• Must be able to engage in moderate to heavy lifting (25-50 lbs.).
• Must be able to push heavy objects (stretchers, anesthesia machines, carts).
• General health must be such as to work regularly scheduled hours and to meet the demands of an active position; including the ability to work for extended periods due to call responsibilities.
