Project Accountant

Compensation: $28.00 - $30.00/hour (based on experience) Schedule: 1st Shift, Full-Time Location: Ann Arbor, MI (On-site, 40 hours/week) Type: Contract to Hire Employment Group is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join a growing architectural firm in Ann Arbor, MI! This role will partner closely with project managers and consultants to support the financial administration of client work, ensuring accurate setup, billing, invoicing, and compliance with company procedures. The ideal candidate will bring prior Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry experience and be comfortable working directly with project managers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Set up new clients and projects within internal systems Process project intakes and maintain accurate project records Coordinate and conduct billing meetings with Project Managers Prepare and manage client invoices Review project backlog notes and perform backlog cleanup as needed Process consultant invoices and reconcile consultant statements Monitor project financial activity and assist with project reporting Support project closeout activities and ensure projects are properly closed Maintain accurate project accounting records and documentation Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information Additional duties as assigned Qualifications 10+ years of accounting or project accounting experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry preferred Experience with project billing, consultant invoicing, project setup, and project closeout activities Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills Proficiency with accounting and business software systems Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a team-oriented environment Our Culture At Employment Group, we believe in empowering people to succeed.
