Location

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Blackwood, NJ, offering hands-on collaboration with engineering, project, and field teams.

Note

This role requires hands-on HVAC and mechanical design experience and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Job Description

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical system layouts for large-scale grocery and retail facilities
• Produce detailed construction-ready drawings using AutoCAD, including plans, sections, schedules, and specifications
• Coordinate HVAC designs with refrigeration, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and architectural constraints
• Perform HVAC load calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Lay out ductwork, ventilation paths, and mechanical spaces to manage high thermal and humidity loads
• Translate field conditions, client input, and conceptual ideas into accurate, buildable drawing sets
• Conduct on-site surveys and walkdowns to document existing conditions and validate designs
• Support installation and commissioning teams to ensure designs function as intended in real-world conditions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
• 5+ years of HVAC or mechanical design experience in commercial or industrial environments
• Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, and construction documentation
• Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced design-build setting
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and applicable mechanical codes
