Our collaborative team is focused on supporting the financial health and continued growth of Illumination Works through accurate financial management, timely invoicing, effective accounts receivable management, and strong financial organization. We work closely with project managers, company leadership, employees, customers, and partners to ensure our financial processes are accurate, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the business. We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in growing their career in corporate accounting and financial management. The ideal candidate will have experience with accounting and financial processes, an understanding of Unanet, and the initiative to stay on top of invoicing and accounts receivable while supporting broader day-to-day finance activities. Key activities include: Support day-to-day accounting and financial management activities, maintaining accurate and well-organized financial records Prepare, review, and submit customer invoices accurately and on schedule Maintain accounts receivable (AR) records and proactively track outstanding customer balances Follow up on aging receivables and coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve payment issues Monitor invoice status, payment activity, and AR aging to help maintain strong organizational cash flow Assist with project and contract financial setup, maintenance, and reporting within Unanet Review financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate accounting treatment Assist with account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close activities, and other general accounting functions Support tracking and reconciliation of project costs, labor, expenses, and billing information Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records for audits, reporting, and compliance requirements Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and preparation of information for management review Identify discrepancies, aging issues, or process gaps and proactively work with the appropriate team members to resolve them Support continuous improvement and documentation of finance and accounting processes Collaborate with project managers, leadership, employees, customers, and other stakeholders on financial matters Provide additional accounting and financial management support as business needs evolve Required skills for this job include: Working knowledge of accounting principles and general accounting practices Experience or familiarity with accounts receivable, customer invoicing, and financial reconciliation Experience preparing invoices and monitoring AR aging Understanding of Unanet or experience working with a comparable project accounting/ERP system Ability to organize and analyze financial information Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completeness Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines Ability to proactively follow up on outstanding items and drive activities through completion Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive financial information B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 1-3 years of accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or related professional experience Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test and background screen Desired skills for this position: Hands-on experience with Unanet, including project accounting, billing, accounts receivable, or financial reporting Experience with government contracting or professional services accounting Understanding of project-based accounting and time-and-materials, fixed-price, or cost-reimbursable contracts Familiarity with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting Experience supporting audit or financial compliance activities Demonstrated initiative in improving financial processes, organization, and reporting About ILW At Illumination Works, we know data, and we should, we’ve been doing it since we started in 2006!
