Location: Arizona — Primarily Remote with Occasional Onsite Services, Ability to Travel In State
Engagement: Independent Contractor / Retained Consultant
Schedule: Flexible, Part-Time
EmotiCare is seeking an experienced, independent Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) to serve as our fractional consulting dietitian. EmotiCare operates seven Behavioral Health Residential Facilities—six in the East Valley and one in Rimrock, Arizona—serving children and adolescents ages 5–17.
This is a flexible consulting engagement for an RD/RDN interested in developing an ongoing relationship with a growing behavioral health organization. The consultant will provide menu oversight, regulatory guidance, staff education, and nutrition consultation as needed.
Scope of ServicesConduct an initial comprehensive review of existing menus
Perform nutrient analysis and recommend revisions
Develop a compliant 12-week rotating menu based on identified nutritional needs
Create an approved food-substitution list
Ensure menus appropriately address the nutritional needs of children and adolescents
Complete annual menu, nutrient, and regulatory compliance reviews
Provide on-call consultation regarding food allergies, dietary restrictions, and other nutritional concerns
Provide guidance regarding applicable Arizona Administrative Code requirements, including A.A.C. R9-10-719
Conduct several nutrition and food-service trainings for staff each year
Document menu reviews, consultations, recommendations, and training provided
Remain reasonably available for regulatory or licensing questions involving nutrition and food services
Special Projects for Population Health Issues
Current Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Professional liability insurance appropriate for independent consulting services
Experience with institutional menu planning and nutrient analysis
Knowledge of food allergies, dietary accommodations, substitutions, and special nutritional needs
Ability to provide services as an independent contractor
Strong written communication and documentation skills
Ability to provide verification of credentials and insurance
Experience with behavioral health, residential treatment, group homes, residential childcare, schools, or other youth-serving programs
Familiarity with Arizona healthcare-institution licensing requirements
Experience developing rotating menus for children and adolescents
Experience providing staff training
Arizona-based candidates are strongly preferred
Compensation will be structured as an initial project fee followed by an ongoing monthly retainer. Additional services outside the agreed-upon retainer may be compensated at an established hourly rate. Applicants are invited to submit their proposed fee structure.
