Pharmacy Technician IV

The Pharmacy Technician IV will work under the supervision of the pharmacist to provide excellent customer service to patients receiving specialty medications. This technician will be responsible for the management for the dispensing functions for specialty medications and monthly outreach calls to assess the need for refills on medications and check on the overall wellbeing of the assigned patients. The Pharmacy Technician IV will also be responsible for managing prior authorizations and financial assistance for assigned specialty patients as well as serve as a role model and assist in the training of staff. All clinical issues will be referred to the pharmacist.

Responsibilities include monitoring prior authorizations for timely submission and processing, identifying pertinent literature for appeals, possessing a good understanding of all disease states, auditing documentation for presence and accuracy, promoting continuous patient communication throughout the patient journey, referring all clinical issues to the pharmacist, participating in the training of staff, working in any disease state as needed, using appropriate walk-away codes, reporting all gaps to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, possessing advanced knowledge of the adjudication process, auditing each specialty prescription for accuracy to ensure proper billing, ensuring prescription processing is promptly done with a focus on patient safety and clean claims, ensuring that prescriptions are accurately filled and all necessary information is in the work basket, enhancing the workflow, modeling professional communication with patients, providers, payers, and PBMs, and working in any disease state as needed.

Physical demands include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include close visual acuity to perform various activities. Constant physical demands include hearing, repetitive movements, standing, talking, and walking. Frequent physical demands include sitting and stooping. Occasional physical demands include lifting.

Salary information is commensurate with education and experience. Required documents to apply include a license or certificate, a list of three professional references, and a resume. Optional documents include proof of veteran status.
