Registered Nurse (T&RC) - Non-Invasive Full Time Days

At Stony Brook Medicine, Registered Nurses are critical members of the team who diagnose and treat patients' health problems using nursing methods such as case finding, health teaching, and counseling. Incumbents provide caring and restorative health care while adhering to medical regimens. Position Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) – Non‑Invasive Cardiology, Stony Brook University Hospital – Full‑time Responsibilities Assess patients’ conditions and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines. Develop written individualized care plans that include teaching needs and discharge planning. Provide direct care, administer medications, and exercise professional nursing judgment as needed. Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment. Communicate changes in patients’ conditions to Charge RN/Clinician. Set priorities, patient goals, and collaborate with patients and families. Document patient/family teaching in the medical record. Work effectively with other staff and departments. Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities or committees. Qualifications Registered Nurse license in New York State (current or eligibility). Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of acute‑care hospital experience (preferred). Experience in an acute‑care facility counts toward RN1 level. Ability to monitor subtle changes and recognize potential problems in acute‑care settings. Must pass required pre‑employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, and regulatory screenings. Working Conditions Exposure to infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, and other potential hazards. May involve irregular hours and emergency situations.
