Job Title: Float Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience License: Valid Compact RN license required Certifications: ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in charge nurse responsibilities Experience in US healthcare settings Ability to float between various units Description: The Float Registered Nurse will provide patient care across various units, including tele, med-surg, and progressive care. The patient population may include ER boarded patients and those requiring step-down care. The nurse-to-patient ratio varies from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity. Charge nurse responsibilities may be required on small units staffed with 1 to 2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs. Core charge duties include managing staffing needs, facilitating bed flow, and general coordination. A minimum of 3 years of previous charge experience is required. Clinical skills required include management of cardiac telemetry, ventilated patients, and various invasive procedures. Experience with the electronic charting system is essential. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various healthcare teams including IV, physical therapy, and pharmacy. The Float RN must be flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of the institution. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities as needed. The candidate must commit to working 3 out of 5 specified holidays.
