Job Description

We are seeking four dedicated and detail-oriented Utility Technicians to support our Treatment Department in maintaining and cleaning essential water recycling infrastructure. This temporary role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in water treatment operations, with potential for skill development in various maintenance and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Weir and Final Tank Cleaning: Scrubbing algae from walls, removing debris, weeds, and pressure washing at first and second stage final tanks. This requires working in confined spaces with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Clarifier Tank Maintenance: Cleaning algae from tank walls, pressure washing, and removing sludge and debris when tanks are drained, following strict confined space protocols and LOTO procedures.
• Aeration Basins & Settling Tanks: Removing accumulated sludge and debris from tank bottoms and draft tubes during maintenance shutdowns, ensuring environmental and safety standards are upheld in confined space work.
• MLSS Channel Cleaning: Setting stop logs, installing trash pumps, draining channels, and cleaning out sludge and debris, adhering to all confined space and safety procedures.
• Sludge Spill Cleanup: Responding to and cleaning up sludge spills promptly to maintain operational safety and environmental compliance.
• Seasonal Focus: During peak summer months, approximately 80% of the workload will involve cleaning weirs and tanks due to increased algae blooms and heat conditions, requiring physical endurance and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in water treatment or industrial maintenance preferred.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces following LOTO procedures.
• Physical ability to perform demanding cleaning tasks, including pressure washing, scrubbing, and debris removal.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
