Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU - St Bernard Parish Hospital - PRN Location: St Bernard Parish Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana. Shift: 4x12 Nights. Job Responsibilities Evaluate and order diagnostic tests and administer intravenous fluids and medications. Respond to life‑threatening situations using nursing standards and protocols for treatment. Ensure ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment function properly. Administer treatment and provide constant support during recovery. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Work Experience: None. Certifications: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Good organizational and time‑management skills; Ability to demonstrate good judgment. Job Duties Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Utilize data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications.
