Academic Coordinator - Jacob Scholars Program - College of Nursing Wayne State University is searching for an experienced AcademicCoordinator - Jacob Scholars Program - College of Nursing atits Detroit campus location. The Academic Coordinator for the Jacob Scholars Program coordinatesacademic support, student success, and recruitment activities forundergraduate Jacob Scholars in the Wayne State University Collegeof Nursing. The primary focus of the position is supporting theacademic success, retention, and progression of Jacob Scholars through tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, group study, academicmonitoring, and early intervention. The Academic Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, academic advisors, the Academic Success Center, and Jacob ScholarsProgram leadership to coordinate student support services and monitor program outcomes. The position also supports recruitmentand outreach efforts to build a pipeline of prospective studentsinto the Jacob Scholars Program, with approximately 30% of theposition dedicated to recruitment activities. Occasional eveningand weekend hours may be required for student programming, tutoring, recruitment, and program events. Academic Support and Student Success – Approximately 70% Coordinate year-round academic support services for JacobScholars, including tutoring, study groups, SupplementalInstruction, academic skills workshops, and pre-semesterpreparation activities in collaboration with the Academic SuccessCenter. Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise peer tutorsand student assistants; maintain appropriate hiring, training,scheduling, and employment documentation. Monitor student academic progress and engagement, identify students who may benefit from additional support, and collaboratewith faculty, advisors, and program leadership to coordinate earlyintervention strategies. Collaborate with faculty and the Academic Success Center to ensure tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and other academicsupport activities align with course objectives and identifiedstudent needs. Coordinate tutoring schedules, student communications, academic support materials, workshops, and other resources designed to promote student success, retention, and progression. Track student participation, academic performance, tutoring utilization, and other program outcomes; prepare reports and use data and student feedback to support continuous programimprovement. Maintain accurate and confidential student and program records in accordance with university policies. Support Jacob Scholars Program activities, assessment, events,and special initiatives and collaborate with the Director of JacobScholars, College of Nursing faculty and staff, universitypartners, and foundation stakeholders as needed. Recruitment and Outreach – Approximately 30% Coordinate recruitment and outreach activities for the JacobScholars Program, including visits to local high schools, collegefairs, information sessions, community events, and otherprospective student activities. Promote the Jacob Scholars Program and Wayne State UniversityCollege of Nursing BSN programs to prospective students andfamilies and provide information about program opportunities,eligibility, academic expectations, and available studentsupport. Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors,teachers, administrators, and community partners to increaseawareness of the Jacob Scholars Program and strengthen theprospective student pipeline. Conduct follow-up outreach with prospective students and collaborate with College of Nursing recruitment, admissions, and advisencing staff to support students through the recruitment and enrollment process; maintain records and track recruitment activities and outcomes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred One to three years of experience in academic support, tutoring, student success, higher education, advising, recruitment, outreach, or a related area. Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with college students, prospective students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners. Ability to coordinate multiple activities, schedules, and priorities and maintain accurate program records. Ability to collect, track, and report student participation, academic performance, and program outcome data. Ability and willingness to travel locally for high school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment activities.
