Adjunct Surgical Technology Instructor

The Adjunct Surgical Technology Instructor has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, classroom instruction and lab instruction. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School. This position reports to LSCPA's General Education and Developmental Studies Department.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction
• Exhibit commitment and involvement in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum based on program, department and college goals and objectives
• Attend faculty meetings
• Maintain current knowledge, expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility along with broader higher education matters and trends
• Respond to students, faculty and staff in a timely and professional manner
• Comply with campus policies and procedures
• Other related duties, as assigned

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Technologist with current certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist, following graduation from an approved program
• Must be currently employed as a Certified Surgical Technologist for at least three (3) years
• Work independently in the classroom
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Possess time management and communication skills
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with public speaking
• Teaching experience in higher education
• Teaching experience at a two-year college

Supplemental Information

Work Hours: Full time hours, Monday – Friday, with possibility of some evenings, depending upon class schedule
