About Evansville State Hospital: Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible. Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:Develop and implement procedures for the security of buildings and grounds to meet the needs of the State Operated Facility.Give advice on the implementation of rules and regulations pertaining to parking and traffic, including markings and signage.Develop short and long-range training programs for security staff.Report status of security and safety to facility management.Develop and continually reviews the standard operation of the security and safety program.Develop professional standards for subordinate staff.Review all policies and procedures and provides updates to those policies that specifically refer to safety and security.Provide orientation to all new members of the security staff and assists in providing training for them in minor plumbing, electrical and other system repairs for temporary safety measures.Provide continued education to the entire staff in regards to their role in the security and safety program.Work with local, state, county, federal and other law enforcement personnel to assure a good working relationship between the State Operated Facilities and these organizations.Work with other law enforcement agencies to recover runaway residents and to assure security of the grounds against vandalism and crime.Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
