Material Handler
The Material Handler plays a key role in daily warehouse operations by accurately picking, packing, staging, and moving products using stand-up reach trucks and other equipment. You'll help keep production running smoothly by maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting food safety standards, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Operate warehouse equipment including stand-up reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, and pallet jacks to move, pick, and stage products safely.
- Follow SOPs and production schedules to complete accurate picking, packing, and staging.
- Use RF scanners and warehouse systems to track inventory and update orders in real time.
- Inspect inbound shipments for accuracy, quality, and damages; report discrepancies promptly.
- Perform receiving duties including unloading trucks, verifying counts, and organizing materials.
- Support inventory management through cycle counts, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate stock levels.
- Maintain GMP- and SSOP-compliant work areas with strong focus on cleanliness and organization.
- Monitor equipment performance and report safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
- Handle materials safely to protect product integrity and support food safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production and shipping timelines.
- Participate in required training for safety, equipment operation, and warehouse procedures.
Essential Skills
- Direct experience operating stand-up reach truck forklifts
- 1+ year of picking/packing experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
- Proficiency with reach trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment
- Experience with order picking, packing, loading, and unloading
- Receiving experience including verifying shipments and organizing materials
- Ability to use RF scanners and warehouse computer systems
- Strong material handling skills for safe movement, stacking, and staging
- Ability to follow SOPs, GMPs, and SSOPs consistently
- Comfort working at heights on high warehouse racks
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a non-climate-controlled warehouse
- Familiarity with inventory practices such as cycle counting and stock rotation
- Strong attention to detail for accurate picking and documentation
- Solid communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating tasks
- Commitment to safety and proper equipment use

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn Center, MN.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
