Crisis Assistance Navigator (Full-Time)

The Crisis Assistance Navigator is responsible for providing basic needs support to individuals and families experiencing financial crises and barriers to self-sufficiency. This position meets organizational standards and interacts with neighbors in a welcoming, respectful, and caring manner. As a team member, this role will provide neighbor-centered services in a professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Embraces and memorizes The Caring Place Mission: to provide for the basic human needs of all people in our community in a welcoming, respectful and caring way.
• Exemplifies CARING Values: Caring, Accountable, Respectful, Integrity, Neighborly, and Grateful;
• Meets with neighbors to apply eligibility criteria fairly and impartially;
• Informs neighbors of all services based on guidelines and availability;
• Creates and maintains neighbor files and other related records;
• Inputs neighbor data into empowOR database;
• Processes phone or electronic application inquiries, when applicable;
• Ensure timely communication and updates to other staff and volunteers;
• Ensures neighbor wait time is minimal and neighbors are provided same-day service, if possible;
• Provides input on operational procedures and forms for processing neighbor assistance;
• Maintains a full understanding of systems and procedures required for a department’s operations;
• Provide back-up coverage to full Programs and Services Department, as needed;
• Identify neighbors and make appropriate referrals to case management programs;
• Participate and contribute actively in all supervisory and team meetings;
• Work independently, organize work efficiently, prioritize responses to changing needs of neighbors and volunteers; able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible in the demands of the workday;
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency plus two years of social service experience;
• Experience working with diverse populations and cultures;
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desired;
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities;
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and database systems;
• Ability to be creative, flexible, and decisive;
• Exhibit a positive, calm, and professional demeanor;
• Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex, responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 40 hour per week FT position. At present, it involves working a Monday – Friday shift of 8 AM – 4:30 PM with the potential of working an adjusted late shift on Thursdays that ends at 6PM. Must be available to work a Saturday shift if future business needs dictate such.
