Annual Giving Officer, Friends The Annual Giving Officer, Friends (AGOF) is responsible for the fundraising strategy for the Symphony’s Friends level donors who give Essential Functions & Responsibilities Plan, implement, and evaluate the annual strategy for renewal of donors under $5,000, acquisition of new donors, and solicitation of additional gifts, including upgrades, to meet revenue goals. Collaborate with the Senior Giving Officer and the Annual Giving Officer, Baton Circle to develop, execute, and communicate a comprehensive, integrated moves management strategy that exceeds income goals and increases donor levels. Work with the Manager, Prospect Research and Development to integrate prospect research and wealth screening into individual giving strategies. Manage the relationship with the Direct Mail Firm, drive all direct mail planning and execution, and ensure new audiences are built. Research membership strategies to ensure current best practices in donor renewal and acquisition are implemented. Oversee telefundraising campaigns, manage the external telefund vendor, and handle negotiations and data transmission processes. Coordinate with Development Operations and Stewardship teams for gift entry, processing, premium fulfillment, payment plans, and pledge follow‑ups. Collaborate with IT, Marketing, and Patron Services to meet data and membership system needs, leading data append strategy and implementation plans. Report on expenses, revenue, and ROI with the Deputy Director, Development and the Senior Giving Officer. Collaborate with stewardship and operations staff on membership events, benefits, campaign premiums, stewardship activities, and communications. Provide support at all Friends donor events and other events as required. Perform additional duties as required by the San Francisco Symphony. Minimum Qualifications 3‑5 years of direct response fundraising or direct mail marketing experience, including printing/mail shop and online fundraising platforms. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage detailed tasks. Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment. Self‑directed, performance‑oriented with a track record of achieving goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to and enthusiasm for the symphonic art form; ability to communicate thoughtfully about the San Francisco Symphony. Familiarity with or passion for orchestral music is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor database software; Tessitura preferred. Availability to work nights and weekends as required. Supervisory Responsibilities None.
