Offers guidance to technicians and support staff, resolving customer service issues within guidelines and supporting education to clinical staff. Follows safety policies including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling, and completes required training for handling hazardous waste. Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities. Evaluates new laboratory techniques and procedures, assisting with data collection and special projects. Facilitates workflow and supports education to clinical staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, equipment, quality control, and safety practices.Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, team members, and customers.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems.Ability to maintain records, perform quality assurance activities, and train or mentor new staff.Commitment to compliance, confidentiality, and adherence to applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.Ability to safely handle biological specimens, chemicals, and laboratory materials.Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and other shifts as needed.Additional language proficiency, molecular testing experience, and advanced laboratory techniques are preferred.Education:Bachelor's [Required]Field of Study Required:Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field OR equivalent combination of qualifying science coursework and laboratory training.Must also meet applicable laboratory training, military training, or CLIA high-complexity testing personnel requirements.Work Experience:2+ years of clinical lab experience [Preferred]Additional Information:Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
