Job Title: Set-Up Technician Job Description
The Set-Up Technician prepares, configures, and troubleshoots CNC machinery to produce precision aluminum automotive parts. This role focuses on installing and adjusting molds, dies, and fixtures, calibrating equipment before production runs, and ensuring initial parts meet exact dimensional and safety specifications.
Responsibilities
Prepare and configure CNC machinery prior to production runs to ensure accurate and efficient operation.
Install, adjust, and safely remove molds, dies, and fixtures in accordance with established procedures.
Calibrate machines and verify all settings before starting production to meet precise client specifications.
Diagnose mechanical and technical issues during setup to prevent defects and minimize line downtime.
Perform changeovers between jobs, including tool changes and program adjustments, to support production requirements.
Operate CNC equipment and utilize G-code to input data, set up tools, and adjust machine parameters as needed.
Inspect initial sample parts to verify dimensions, quality, and safety standards using appropriate measuring tools.
Monitor production start-up to confirm that machinery runs smoothly and parts meet quality expectations.
Collaborate with production staff to resolve setup-related issues and maintain consistent output.
Follow all safety procedures when working with CNC machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and tooling.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, including operation and setup.
Ability to work with G-code to input data, load programs, and adjust machine settings.
Proficiency in installing, adjusting, and removing tools, molds, dies, and fixtures on CNC equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a machine shop environment.
Experience with machine operation, changeovers, and production support.
Familiarity with hydraulic systems used in industrial machinery.
Familiarity with pneumatic systems used in industrial machinery.
Ability to inspect parts and verify dimensions against specifications.
Understanding of basic safety practices related to CNC operation and industrial equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ownership of a basic set of hand tools suitable for machine setup and adjustment.
Experience with CNC operation in a production environment, particularly automotive or metalworking.
Ability to read and interpret machine instructions and basic technical documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and correct setup issues.
Attention to detail to ensure parts meet precise dimensional and safety standards.
Effective communication skills to work with production and maintenance teams.

Work Environment
This role is based in a machine shop environment operating Monday through Friday on second shift (2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) or third shift (10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), with some Saturday work expected to meet production needs. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons, but fans are positioned at each machine and station to improve comfort. Team members work around CNC machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and standard metalworking equipment, and are expected to wear appropriate industrial attire and follow all safety guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Heber Springs, AR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
