Material Handler

Position Material Handler – Purchasing & Dispensary Department, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, USC Job Overview Responsible for receiving, processing, and delivering incoming orders, as well as packing and shipping outgoing orders. Move materials between storage and ordering departments, make pickups and deliveries, and maintain work area cleanliness. Key Responsibilities Transfer materials from stockroom, warehouse, or other storage to ordering department and relocate within storage facilities. Use hand truck, forklift, hoist, motorized conveyor, or other material handling equipment. Accept incoming shipments at the dock, remove merchandise from belt and place in appropriate area. Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and waybills; check for completeness and damage. Log shipments, complete and forward paperwork in a timely manner; file paperwork as assigned. Process orders for delivery and load merchandise onto delivery vehicles. Make pickups and deliver materials across campus as required. Prepare, pack, and ship all outgoing merchandise, including returns, according to department procedures. Maintain general order and cleanliness of area, removing trash. Receive, sort, and process mail, packages, and other items for university departments. Document receipts and process campus mail, UPS, FEDEX, and other shipments using appropriate postage or requisitions. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 0-6 months of related experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Outlook (general computer knowledge). Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment; experience with scales, postage meters, UPS machines. Valid California driver’s license preferred.
