HI Specialist II

The Counseling Center

JOB SUMMARYThe Health Information Support Specialist II provides a variety of administrative support to the Health Information Department.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential functions are duties which are primary to the position. An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The essential functions of this position are:1. Review and process all Record Requests and provide the correlating documentation within the EHR2. Provides coverage for HI Office Managers and other Health Information Specialist as applicable.3. Manage and work all NextGen auditing and billing reports as requested4. Works directly with the clinical teams to ensure that NextGen reporting errors are corrected and submitted within the required time frame5. Maintains all HI supplies by working with Facilities6. Manage all assigned clinical staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage7. Scans and files clinically relevant documents into EHR8. Maintains a program roster that tracks longevity of stay and bed availability9. Manage all assigned client schedules to ensure proper utilization of services (UM management) to match LOC10. Completes client intakes as neededSECONDARY FUNCTIONSSecondary functions are duties, which are not exclusive of the position and can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc.1. Provides Urine Drug Testing as requested by the HI Coordinator2. Bills out Urine Drug Tests within the EHR as requested by the HI Coordinator3. Picks up positive urine samples from all sites and processes for lab pick up4. Provides backup support for the Health Information Department as requested5. Other duties as assigned.COMPETENCIES1. Knowledge/skill regarding office practices and procedures2. Skill in operating office machinery with speed and accuracy3. Ability in the area of effective communication and interpersonal skills with public and co-workers4. Demonstrates appropriate understanding of working with confidential material and situations5. Ability to understand and assimilate new information quicklyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE1. High School diploma or equivalent2. Prior experience in an office setting of a least one (1) year preferred and/or formal secretarial training including computer experience3.
