Counter Sales

Company Description Long Island Laminates is a specialty supplier serving residential and commercial customers with sheet goods and various hardware products for the custom cabinetmaker or contractor. Team members work closely with customers at the counter and in the warehouse to ensure orders are accurate and delivered on time. Role Description The Counter Sales role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hauppauge, NY. This role is responsible for assisting walk-in and phone customers with product selection, pricing, and order placement, while providing accurate information about product features and availability. Day-to-day tasks include processing sales orders and invoices, handling payments, coordinating with the warehouse team to ensure timely order fulfillment, and maintaining a clean, organized sales counter and showroom area. The individual will respond to customer inquiries, resolve basic issues, and support follow-up on orders and quotes. Additional responsibilities may include learning product lines, supporting basic inventory checks, and participating in occasional product or sales training to improve service and sales effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact professionally with a wide range of customers and internal team members.
• Sales and Sales Management abilities to support counter sales activities, upsell products where appropriate, and help meet location sales goals.
• Training experience or willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training on products, systems, and selling practices.
• Basic math and computer skills for pricing, order entry, and use of a computer.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work safely in a warehouse/retail environment.
• Prior experience in retail, building materials, or a similar counter sales environment is preferred but not required.
• Reliable attendance, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to working with team members.
