Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Process Engineer – Upstream Manufacturing to support large-scale biologics production at its Holly Springs facility. This role will focus on upstream operations including cell culture and media/buffer preparation, ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes. The engineer will play a key role in process optimization, troubleshooting, and technology transfer within a GMP environment.

Role accountabilities:

• Support and optimize upstream manufacturing processes, including:

• Mammalian cell culture operations

• Inoculation and seed train progression

• Media and buffer preparation

• Provide real-time manufacturing floor support, troubleshooting deviations, and ensuring process continuity

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, MSAT, and Quality teams to drive process improvements and operational efficiency

• Assist with tech transfer, scale-up, and process validation activities

• Author and review: SOPs, batch records, and technical reports

• Deviation investigations and CAPAs

• Monitor process performance and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements • Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory, and safety requirements

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, throughput, and reliability

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biology, or related field

• 3+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or process engineering

• Hands-on experience with: Upstream cell culture operations (mammalian systems preferred), Media and buffer preparation, Inoculation and seed train processes

• Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing environments

• Experience with process troubleshooting and deviation investigations

• Ability to provide legal US work authorization documents required. Will consider US domestic travelers and relocation.
