About The Role Grade Level (for internal use): 11 The Role: Senior Sustainability Sales Specialist, Non-Financial Corporations, Americas The Team: The Sustainability Sales Specialist in New York plays a vital role in fostering strong relationships with our clients while expanding our market presence. This role is dedicated to understanding the unique needs of businesses in the region and collaborating within S&P Global Sustainable1 and across other divisions to deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions tailored to their objectives. Additionally, the role actively engages with various market participants to enhance our visibility in the North America market, focusing on companies as clients and as partners in driving innovation. This team will be responsible for defining and executing the sales strategy for North America and directly managing a select portfolio of key accounts. The Impact: Reporting to the Regional Sales Head for Non-Financial Corporates, Americas, this role provides the opportunity to work on global, multi-stakeholder deals with a wide range of companies within a defined territory. You will have ultimate accountability for achieving sales growth targets for Sustainable1 within the Energy division. This role supports our suite of Sustainability solutions, with a primary focus on Sustainability Analytics / Benchmarking Services, Physical Risk data feed, and the Climanomics platform. You will consult with customers about S&P’s Sustainability services suite to evangelize solutions that help them reach their business goals. Responsibilities Achieve sales quota for the given territory Balance long-term perspective with monthly and quarterly sales results, including short-term results, sales forecasts, and sustainable strategy for the designated territory to ensure both short-term and long-term success Partner with marketing and business line leaders to establish clear, customer-oriented value propositions for the entire suite of sustainability solutions targeting clients Identify opportunities to drive top-line revenue growth by leveraging existing products and integrating customer feedback and market intelligence to relevant stakeholders; strong focus on cross-sell opportunities Share accountabilities with the marketing function for improving the customer experience, go-to-market strategy, and achievement of sales targets Stay connected with customers and the market to ensure broad market needs are incorporated into product development Promote cross-divisional collaboration with other S&P Divisions; align sales strategy with S&P Global’s key client base and opportunities Lead in communicating our sustainability value proposition and market leadership; participate in industry conferences, engage with influencers and thought leaders, and act as an S&P Global brand ambassador Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously Collaborate with the account teams in S&P Global Market Intelligence to recommend custom solutions for customers Be entrepreneurial—stay current with industry news to develop marketing initiatives and create client events to attract prospects and build pipeline What We’re Looking For 5+ years of proven experience in a new business sales position Experience in Sustainability and/or SaaS enterprise sales with a focus on solution selling and large-ticket deals Ability to communicate the company vision and revenue strategy across relevant functions and align goals Proven track record of selling within Non-Financial Corporations Experience in managing large, complex sales within a large organization Understanding of collecting and leveraging customer, market, and competitive intelligence Exceptional communication skills and experience in a global matrix environment Ability to translate diverse customer needs into product and service requirements and execute sales and support strategies Strategic and operational mindset with discipline on long-term planning and pipeline tooling Ability to make difficult decisions and prioritize with imperfect information Strong technical experience with Salesforce and other commercial tools Strong negotiation skills to close strategic deals Entrepreneurial mindset with grit, creativity, and persistence Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and interpersonal skills with an Executive audience Excellent collaboration skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $102,387-$130,000. Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
