About this position: Environmental Scientist- Geoscientist Location- Remote

Wage/Salary Range: $86K

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform field work as assigned
- Prepare project submittals, including work plans and reports in accordance with Federal and State of Alaska regulations, including CERCLA
- Perform field observations and sampling of environmental media (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, sediment, surface water, etc.)
- Perform data collection and documentation related to field activities
- Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays
- Support the analysis and interpretation of field data
- Update/prepare work plans
- Prepare data reports, boring logs, and other technical reports
- Data entry and QA/QC of data tables, maps, reports, and other work products
- Develop GIS deliverables for Projects
- Provide GIS Quality Control for deliverables generated by consultants, subcontractors and co-workers
- Perform subcontractor oversight
- Perform junior staff oversight
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or another closely related scientific or engineering discipline.
- Level of Experience Requirements: 3 years
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation activities including groundwater, soil, and air sample collection, monitoring well installation, and reporting.
- Willing and able to travel, with up to a 30/70 field-to-office-based ratio to support multiple projects in the first years of employment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with technical data analysis and contamination delineation techniques
Valid driver’s license and good driving record

- Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy, and strong attention to detail
- Strong report writing skills
- Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to find solutions to unique logistical and environmental challenges
- Ability to perform quality control functions during site work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work outside normal business hours and/or in unfavorable weather conditions

The employee must be able to perform typical office and project management duties, including sitting, standing, walking, using a computer, participating in meetings, and communicating by phone, email, and in person. The position may require occasional travel to project sites, where the employee may walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs, access active work areas, and wear required personal protective equipment. The employee may occasionally lift or carry lightweight project materials, files, or equipment, typically up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work is performed in both office and field environments. The Project Manager may be required to visit active project sites to observe field activities, attend client or subcontractor meetings, monitor project progress, and support coordination with project teams. Field visits may include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction equipment, uneven terrain, and active work areas. Personal protective equipment may be required when visiting project sites.
Physical Setting: Typically, office or home office environment with occasional field visits.
Schedule and Flexibility: 40 hours per week
Other Pertinent Work Details:
- This position supervises subcontractors and vendors working on projects being managed under the PM and may involve supervision of Paragon employees.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
